Dr. Darter, an expert clinical immunologist, was born and raised in Oklahoma. She has lived and served in Oklahoma for all but two years of her professional life. Dr. Darter attended Oklahoma State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology. While attending Oklahoma State, Dr. Darter stayed active on campus as a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.
Dr. Darter went on to attend The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine where she graduated with Honors and received her Medical Doctor degree. While in medical school, Dr. Darter was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her training at The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center where she became a Board-Certified Internist, after serving as Chief Medical Resident of Internal Medicine. Dr. Darter spent two years at University of Texas Southwestern, Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, and Parkland Memorial Hospital, one of the leading clinical allergy and immunology centers in the country. She became board certified in allergy and immunology in 2003.
Following her formal training, Dr. Darter created the Oklahoma Institute of Allergy Asthma and Immunology in 2004, serving as the Medical Director for more than fifteen years. She has brought the original rapid desensitization immunotherapy to Oklahoma. Her research on food allergy, asthma, allergic rhinitis, eczema, and immunodeficiency has brought cutting edge new therapies for many patients. Dr. Darter has numerous publications in the field of allergy and immunology, as well as leading the education of other physicians on immune deficiency diagnosis and treatment.
Outside of the office Dr. Darter appreciates the simpler things in life. She enjoys spending time with her three beautiful daughters, in which they are actively involved in sports and scholastic activities. Some of the things that make her happy include traveling with her family, exercise, nutrition, reading, and attending Life Church.
Professionally, Dr. Darter is passionate about the one-on-one connection she has with her patients. She likes taking time to fully get to know her patients and tailors a patient specific plan to improve quality of life, wellness, and living with vitality. Dr. Darter implements both Eastern and Western medicine, as well as treating patients through lifestyle changes and medical grade supplements. She is a firm believer in gut health/nutraceuticals and how it affects wellness and vitality.
